Some people sing because they are songwriters with no one to sing their songs. Then there are singers who try their hand at writing songs. Everyone who has heard his music knows this guy could sing. But it is equally true that this artist is not trying to write. He may one day be heralded as one of contemporary music's more brilliant songwriters. (Jimmy Mac, the producer, shares in writing credits for this album.)
Michael was featured in Insight Magazine in Year 2001. His Where Would I Be album may be labeled by some as folk rock. It is certainly contemporary, but definitely not outrageous. A lyrical poet in the mould of Steven Curtis Chapman, the instrumental and vocal arrangements are obviously influenced by that prolific writer/singer/musician.
The work is filled with strong stand alone pieces. The driving cut "Send Me" has an energy that does nothing to diminish the profound message. The ballad, "I'll Keep My Eyes on the Lord," is reminiscent of Dallas Holmes in his heyday. "No Giants" is a contemporizing of the Israelite experience in the wilderness. Visit Michael.
